• Usage data: Check history, credit balance, and subscription status

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the verification service
• To manage your account and credit balance
• To process payments via Stripe
• To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
• To send essential account-related communications

3. Third-Party AI Services

To verify your submissions, we send your text to third-party AI providers. These providers process your text according to their own privacy policies. We do not share your account information with these providers — only the text you submit for checking.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). Check results are stored so you can review your history. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

5. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We store anonymous check usage server-side by IP address to enforce free usage limits. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• AI providers (submitted text only, for verification)
• Stripe (for payment processing)
• Supabase (for data storage and authentication)

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your check history
• Cancel your subscription at any time

9. Browser Extension

The DoubleChecks browser extension lets you fact-check text you select on a web page, or an answer from an AI assistant. It is covered by this same policy, with these specifics:

• What is sent: only the specific text you choose to check — the text you highlight, or the AI answer you click “Audit” on — is sent to our servers and, in turn, to our AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI and Perplexity) to verify it. We never send your browsing history, the pages you visit, your keystrokes, or the rest of a conversation.
• Local storage: the extension stores a short local history of your checks, your daily free-check count, and — if you sign in — your account access token, in your browser’s extension storage on your device.
• Signing in: connecting the extension links it to your DoubleChecks account so checks draw on your plan credits. You can disconnect at any time from the extension popup.
• Site access: by default the extension runs only on ChatGPT, Claude and DoubleChecks. Checking text on any other site is off unless you explicitly enable “Check on all sites,” which you can turn off again at any time.
• No selling or ads: we do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use audited content for any purpose other than performing your fact-check.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
